Victorians letting loose at parties aren’t getting the message — with police revealing some revellers on Saturday night had been fined before for the same thing.

Victorians fined for letting loose at apartment parties in the past 24 hours aren’t getting the message, with police revealing they fined merrymakers on Saturday night who had been fined before for the exact same thing.

A party of 13 people was broken up on Saturday night in an apartment in Clarendon Street, Southbank, in Melbourne’s CBD.

A police spokeswoman said all 13 revellers were fined and “some of the occupants had previously been fined for attending similar parties”.

       The repeat offender infringements were among 114 fines issued in Victoria in the 24 hours to Sunday morning.

They include 20 for failing to wear a face mask, and 24 issued when people were caught breaking the rules at vehicle checkpoints.

Eight people were fined at an apartment party in Bentleigh, and six people were fined at an apartment party in Latrobe Street in the CBD.

The partiers paid a hefty price for their decision to break the rules, with the fine for illegal gatherings now up to $4,597 for every individual in attendance.

Melbourne residents are only allowed to gather outside in groups of up to five people from two households.

They can be fined $200 for not wearing a mask, and $1652 for being more than five kilometres from their home or workplace.

On Saturday a man exercising for more than two hours on the St Kilda foreshore was fined after police spoke to him three times about his behaviour.

Police conducted 1,406 spot checks on people at their homes, businesses, and in public places in the 24 hours to Sunday morning.

In Victoria 22,481 vehicles have been stopped at checkpoints, along with 491,303 spot checks conducted since March 21.
