Malaysia expects 16 million tourists this year
According to Singapore's "Lianhe Zaobao" report on January 16, the current global countries are gradually getting out of the new crown epidemic, and China opened its borders on January 8, so that the Malaysian government expects to attract 16 million foreign tourists this year.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia Zhang Qingxin pointed out that the Ministry expects to attract 16 million tourists this year when he opened the renovated and upgraded World Heritage Park at Jonker Street, a famous tourist attraction in Malacca on the 15th. He said that after visiting tourist attractions in various states in Malaysia, he will convene relevant units to discuss future development work.
According to statistics from the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia received a total of more than 26.1 million foreign tourists in 2019, including about 3 million Chinese tourists. After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2020, the number of foreign tourists dropped by more than 80% to 4.33 million, and it will drop to 130,000 in 2021. The Ministry of Tourism of the country estimated in June 2022 that it will attract 2 million foreign tourists that year, but the Malaysian government has not yet announced the exact figure.
