Striking tax evasion - EU listed Macau in the blacklist of tax evasion haven
The Council of the European Union published a blacklist of 17 tax evasion havens including Macau. This blacklist is made by the finance minister of EU member states. The Finance Minister of France, Bruno Le Maire, said the capital flow between the places in the blacklist and EU will be cutting off, other enforcement measures will be launched in coming few weeks.
Other countries in the blacklist, including Guam, Korea and United Arab Emirates, etc.. EU wished to crack down the tax evasion activities where using offshore companies for tax evasion by publishing the blacklist.
Bruno Le Maire pointed out, other than the blacklist, 47 places were put into the “gray” list of tax evasion haven. As the meanings of the name, the places in the gray list have gray areas in dealing with tax issues, which does not met with the standard guidelines of the EU. But these places have promised to make changes in their tax regulations.
The 17 countries in the tax evasion haven blacklist are Korea, Macau, Moglia, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates, etc., the 47 countries or places including Hong Kong, Switzerland and Turkey are listed in “Grey list”, i.e. “observation list”
