Residents from Mainland China who wish to settle in Hong Kong
Residents from Mainland China who wish to settle in Hong Kong must apply for
a "Permit for Proceeding to Hong Kong and Macao" (commonly known as one-way permit) from the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the Public Security Bureau where their residence registration is located in the Mainland
The acceptance, approval and issuance of one-way permits shall be handled by the mainland Public Security Bureau in accordance with laws, policies and administrative regulations of Mainland China. The current daily quota for one-way permit is 150.
According to Mainland China’s laws and administrative regulations, the mainland authorities have announced that mainland residents who meet one of the following circumstances may apply for one-way permits to settle in Hong Kong:
i. One of the spouses settles in Hong Kong; they can apply together with accompanying children under the age of 18 at the same time.
ii. Those who are over 18 years old and under 60 years old, whose parents settled in Hong Kong are all over 60 years old and have no children in Hong Kong, and need them to take care of them.
iii. Those who are over 60 years old and have no children in the Mainland, and need to live with their children who are over 18 years old and permanent resident of Hong Kong.
iv. Those who are under the age of 18 and need to live with their parents who have settled in Hong Kong.
v. Children of Hong Kong permanent residents who hold a certificate of entitlement.
