Temple of Debord
The Temple of Debod is an ancient Egyptian temple reconstructed off-site in Madrid. The temple was built in the 2nd century BC. It was originally located 15 kilometers south of Aswan, Egypt, and was used to worship the goddess Isis.
In 1960, many monuments and archaeological sites were in danger due to the need to build the Aswan Dam. UNESCO has called for the protection of these threatened historical heritage internationally. In the end, as a thank you to Spain for its assistance in protecting the Abu Simbel Temple, the Egyptian government donated the temple to Spain, and Spain completed the reconstruction in Madrid in 1968.
