Popeye Village
Popeye village, located in Malta, a small country in a corner of the Mediterranean in Europe, is a cartoon out of the featured Text Brigade Town. Originally called Sweethaven village, it was a small"Isolated" village until a few decades ago. However, because of“Popeye”, this small village suddenly became famous.
Popeye the Popeye, created in 1929, remained popular for decades. Hollywood decided to make a live-action film of the same name in 1980, and after careful selection, the crew decided to set it in this Maltese harbor. In 1980, the Paramount Pictures and the Disney Company established. C. Segar's comic books built this village. It took 165 workers seven months to build, because Malta has no forest, and the village built barbershops, bakeries, sawmills, fish shops, post offices, cobblers, there are even cemeteries and other materials from 19 buildings are transported from the Netherlands and other places. The Mariner village was supposed to be demolished after filming ended, but the Government of Malta chose to keep the village free of the crew's land-use fees at the suggestion of Popeye's Robyn Williams, and named it“Popeye's village.”. Since then, a tourism department run by Robyn has been set up and a series of changes have been made to create the Popeye village we see today.
The village“Magnifies” the cartoon scenes and characters further: they paint the wooden houses in colorful colors, and each house is decorated with a variety of elaborate cartoon ornaments. Walking among them, you can see all kinds of Popeye in the role of doll modeling, statues, as if in the“Popeye” animation feeling.
