Dolmabahçe Sarayi
Dolmabahçe Sarayi was built in the mid-19th century during the Ottoman Empire, but it is a royal palace that combines Baroque and neoclassical styles, also known as the "New Palace". Located on the coast of the European part of the Bosporus Strait, the building complex stretches 600 meters along the strait, covering an area of 15,000 square meters, with 285 rooms and 43 halls. It is magnificent and shows the glory and wealth of the Ottoman Empire.
The harem architecture of the new palace is more magnificent and luxurious than the old palace. The internal treasures are dizzying, luxurious crystal lamps, ivory, and gold products abound. Among them is the world's largest 4,500-kilogram crystal chandelier. Bathrooms and toilets are all inlaid with white marble, and all doors and windows are carved with high-quality wood. The entire construction project cost 5 million Ottoman gold pounds, equivalent to 35 tons of gold, and 14 tons of gold were used to make gold leaf to decorate the ceiling of the palace. There are also famous paintings of famous artists distributed in the hall and various rooms, which are very worth admiring.
In addition, the guards standing guard at the gate of the palace are also the highlight of attracting tourists' attention. They are tall and mighty, motionless, so many people think they are statues.
On April 3, 2008, the Beijing Olympic torch landed in Istanbul, the only city in the world connecting Eurasia. The torch is sailed on the Bosphorus on a cruise ship. The two sides of Europe and Asia have beautiful scenery, facing each other across the sea. The famous Dolmabahce Palace - a fantastic palace bearing the imprint of the golden age of the empire - is one of the highlights of the many sights.
The Olympic torchbearer will take a boat across the strait next to a mosque near the famous Bosphorus Bridge, and arrive at the Beleibe Palace on the Asian side diagonally opposite the mosque; after a short rest, the torchbearer will run across the strait again Cross the Bosphorus Bridge and return to mainland Europe.
