Greece announces entry and exit policy for foreign citizens, residence renewal no longer provides waiting paper

According to the Greek "China Greek Times", recently, the Greek Immigration Bureau issued an entry and exit policy for foreign citizens holding expired residence permits and applying for residence for the first time. The announcement stated that from January 1 to December 31, 2023, Greece will allow citizens of third countries who hold a legal residence permit in Greece or hold a "waiting paper" to enter Greece multiple times without a visa.

According to the regulations of the Greek government, the current residence permit for third-country citizens in Greece has been changed to online processing, and the "blue waiting paper" is no longer provided for the renewal of residence.

It is reported that during the process of waiting for the residence renewal, the Immigration Bureau will send an email to the applicant and give a "certificate that the residence is being extended" as a valid identity certificate for temporarily living in Greece.
