PAKISTAN: Anti-dumping Duties on Polyester Filament Yarn to be lifted in August
Pakistan has announced the lifting of anti-dumping duties on polyester filament yarn (PFY) imports from China and Malaysia, starting 25 August this year. In a 21 April 2022 notification, the National Tariff Commission (NTC) said the duties termination will proceed unless a sunset review is conducted before that date. Local PFY producers seeking a sunset review are advised to file applications within 45 days of the notification.
Imports of PFY produced in or exported from China and Malaysia currently pay duties from 2.87% to 6.82% of cost and freight value. The NTC originally imposed anti-dumping duties on such goods from 25 August 2017. Initially, the rates were higher, ranging from 3.25% to 11.35%, but were adjusted to the current levels.
Products covered by the duties are Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) heading numbers PCT 5402.3300 drawn textured yarn; PCT 5402.4700 fully drawn textured yarn and PCT 5402.6200 multiple folded or cabled PFY in two or three ply. Coloured PFY was exempted under the original anti-dumping tariffs.
