Pakistan Thar Block II Phase II Coal-Power Integration Project put into Commercial Operation
Xinhua News Agency, Thar, Pakistan, October 12 (Reporter Tang Binhui) The opening ceremony of the commercial operation for the Pakistan Thar Block II Phase II Coal-Power Integration Project under the framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was held in Thar, Sindh Province, southern Pakistan on the 10th.

Addressing the ceremony, Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif congratulated the successful operation of the project. He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a gift from our hard-core brothers and the implementation of relevant projects cannot be achieved without China's long-standing strong support. The development of the Thar coal field and the construction of the power station have saved Pakistan a lot of foreign exchange expenditure, boosted the development of relevant local industries and greatly benefited the economic and social development of Pakistan.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong said in his speech that as a new achievement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the project will help Pakistan reduce the outflow pressure of foreign exchange reserves, improve the level of electricity, promote employment and turn the Thar Desert into an important asset of Pakistan through the development and utilization of domestic energy resources. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project is a win-win cooperation.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal said in his speech that the Thar coal power project has provided jobs for the local people, improved the quality of life, and transformed the once barren desert.
China Machinery and Equipment Engineering Co., LTD is responsible for the construction of the Phase II coal power integration project in Thar Block II, which has been put into commercial operation.
