The Port of Gwadar
Gwadar port (Urdu: گوادر) is an important port in Pakistan. When Gwadar belonged to the Kingdom of Oman in 1792, the Karat Khanate in western Pakistan donated 800 square kilometers of land around Gwadar to an Omani prince who came to take refuge. In 1958, Pakistan purchased the Gwadar area from Oman for 3 million pounds. The correct transliteration in the authoritative encyclopedia is Gwadar(Here a reads [ə]), and Gwadar is a popular name for many years. At the request of President Pervez Musharraf, the Chinese Government provided financial and technical assistance for the construction of the port. Construction of the port began in March 2002, and Gwadar Port was basically completed in February 2015, it is expected to be fully operational in mid-April. Some of China's oil shipments will be cut by 85%. Gwadar Port at the geographical coordinates of 25.2°N and 62.19°E covers an area of 14,637 square kilometers with a population of 85,000.
Gwadar Deep Water Port is located in Gwadar City of Baluzistan Province in southwest Pakistan, about 460 kilometers away from Karachi in the east, about 120 kilometers away from the Pakistan-Iran border in the west, and facing the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean in the south, at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz. Gwadar Deep Water Port is the third largest port in Pakistan and can be used as a transit trade for East Asian countries and an outlet to the sea for landlocked Central Asian countries.
